Leslie Blakey is a principal with Blakey & Agnew, LLC, which is a public affairs and communications firm based in Washington, DC and specializing in transportation.

She serves as executive director of the Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors, which is dedicated to the expansion and modernization of America’s freight and goods movement infrastructure. Its members include leading transportation associations, MPOs, commercial property owners, major ports, trade corridors, state and local government agencies, and individual rail, trucking, and engineering companies. The success of this initiative resulted in a five-fold increase in federal funding for goods movement infrastructure in the surface transportation reauthorization bill, SAFETEA-LU.

For 20 years, Longworth was a foreign correspondent for the Tribune and United Press International and was the Tribune’s Chief European Correspondent. He has reported from 75 countries on five continents.  His new book, Caught in the Middle, describes the impact of globalization on the Midwest. He has been an adjunct professor in international relations at Northwestern University and a regular lecturer at Columbia University and is a mentor at the Harris School at the University of Chicago.
